Restorative dentistry at our Aurora and Naperville-area practice involves any dental treatment that pertains to the health and function of the teeth and gums. As a fully accredited dental practice, we offer all-inclusive services, and our trusted dentist, Dr. Carl Henley, has more than 20 years of expertise in the field. Below is an overview of some of the most popular restorative dentistry options we offer to the Aurora community.
Dental bridges are composed of an artificial tooth (or teeth) with two restorations on either side that act as anchors. Typically, dental bridges can replace one, two, or three missing teeth in an instance, meaning they are ideal for patients who still retain a number of their natural teeth. The procedure leads to several practical benefits in addition to remarkably natural-looking results. What's more, the restorations are easy to maintain through the simple practice of good oral hygiene.
Dental crowns are used to repair teeth that are either badly damaged or affected by decay. They can be made of metal, ceramic, resin, and porcelain materials, although our doctor prefers porcelain. With every patient, he will match the crown to the shape and color of your natural teeth. The restoration works like a cap, covering irregularities and protecting your teeth. Crowns can also replace conspicuous fillings. Either way, they will blend beautifully with your smile!
The placement of dental implants requires a three-stage process. While Dr. Henley does not insert the dental implant into the jawbone - the first stage of the process, after which a three-month healing period is necessary for the titanium element to bond, or osseointegrate, to the jawbone - he does take on every aspect of the procedure's third stage. Dr. Henley can fashion a uniquely tailored artificial tooth restoration to match your smile. He will also secure this new tooth onto the dental implant base. We are happy to recommend a good dental implant surgeon to guide you through the first two stages.
For patients experiencing complex structural problems with their teeth and jaw - which can severely affect the bite and appearance of the face - our talented staff can perform an elaborate full mouth reconstruction. Similar to a smile makeover in its extent, the full mouth reconstruction addresses a range of dental issues, from badly damaged teeth to gaps and misalignments, which make chewing and speaking difficult. As a general dentist with special training in orthodontics and neuromuscular dentistry, Dr. Henley has the experience to perform complex full mouth reconstruction for his patients.
There are a range of options available for a full mouth reconstruction at our Naperville dental practice. When a tooth has irreparable damage or is missing, Dr. Henley may replace it with a dental implant and natural-looking artificial tooth. He may also place porcelain veneers or dental crowns on teeth that are worn, chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged. To fix slight misalignments and gaps, he may be able to use veneers, or may suggest treatment with Invisalign® for more complex cases.
If you have multiple dental issues and structural problems, the best treatment option may be a full mouth reconstruction. Contact our general dentistry practice to schedule a consultation with Dr. Henley to determine if full mouth reconstruction is right for you.
Also referred to as "invisible braces", Invisalign® is a system of orthodontics that straightens teeth without the obvious look and hassle of traditional braces. Dr. Henley will use 3-D computer imaging to create a customized series of clear aligners. In addition to being barely visible, these aligners are removable. While you do have to wear the aligners around the clock, you can remove them during brushing, flossing, eating, or drinking. Patients will need to switch aligners every two weeks to complete the treatment process.
